The Instruction:
This BMW X5 had a clean history check but our client wanted the security of an inspection before his handed over in excess of £20,000 to a private seller.
Our findings:
The report came back with a few mechanical faults, in general the vehicle was suitable for purchase. But for one major issue, the vehicle had been cloned. A stolen vehicle with false plates and body ID.
The engineer identified the original stamped chassis number had been filled then painted over. A new chassis number matching the DVLA data for the false number plates had been placed over the top to hide the vehicles true identity.
The outcome:
Our client was able to avoid losing in excess of £20,000 buying a vehicle that he would have had no legal entitlement to.
